Per Dictionary.com (a website that I think is essential for all students), to be bold means to "not hesitate or be fearful of actual or possible danger or rebuff" or "beyond the usual limits of conventional thought or action". On my personal and unusual planet, the thoughts of my family were extremely old fashioned. Therefore, I not only pushed the lines of their conventional thought, but surpassed it and even had them support me. I believe that my first sign of boldness was when I decided to play soccer. I was told my some family members that my body would become manly. Of course I didn't listen and 20 years later I still play.

That type of determination spilled into everything else I did, especially within my career, and I haven't stopped yet. It takes a lot to do certain things when your family, community, or even society might not be accustomed to it. Their opinions go against you, but it is not to harm you. People are just afraid of unchartered waters. Either way, at the end you must do what's good for you and no one else to have a quality of life that accomdates your wants and needs.
